Pentecost Sunday - May 11th is Pentecost and the congregation is invited to wear red to the Sunday service.
UTO - United Thank Offering boxes are available in the church office. The UTO supports the mission work and the church. The UTO ingathering will be on May 11th - (NOT May 4th as previously stated). Please make the UTO part of your Lenten and Easter discipline.
Adult Christian Education Class meets at 9:30 a.m. on Sundays in the Parish Hall. Everyone is invited to participate.
Bishops Election – The Diocese of Texas will elect a new diocesan bishop on May 24th. In preparation for that election several “walkabouts” will take place around the diocese. Walkabouts are an opportunity for the people of the diocese to hear from candidates and to ask the candidates questions. The closest walkabout happening near La Grange occurs on Wednesday, May 7th, from 5:30 pm until 9:30 pm at the Seminary of the Southwest in Austin. Second Chance Emporium - Revised Schedule
Please note there has been a change in the volunteer schedule at Second Chance Emporium. St. James' will be scheduled for the week of May19th - 24th. We will NOT be scheduled June 2nd - 9th as previously posted on the volunteer schedule however, due to the Memorial Day holiday, our clean-up day will be on June 2nd. Please contact Vera Zitterich if you have questions.
Saint James' Visioning Event - Saturday, May 31st from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm. The entire congregation is invited to participate in the visioning event that will help us discern what God is calling us to do in the next several years. A facilitator will lead us through a descernment process. Lunch and child care will be provided.
Saint James' T-Shirts - There is a sign-up sheet posted on the bulletin board in the Parish hall if you would like to order a red Saint James' T-Shirt. These shirts are great to wear at church events. The cost is approximately $14 per shirt but the more we order - the better our price, so please sign up today! May Supper Club Cancelled - Parishioners of St. James' have been so busy this Spring! The month of May brings Mother's Day and Memorial Day as well as many graduation ceremonies. It is also a very busy month for the Men's Club with the second Saturday Chicken Bar-B-Q, the charity cook for the La Grange Noon Lion's Club, plus the regular monthly meeting. ECW will be having their bake sale along with the Men's Club Bar-B-Q to support the Relay for Life. ECW also has their regular Monday night meeting. Because of the busy schedule and the fact that there was no host for this month, Supper Club Chairwoman Ann Campbell and Rector Daryl Hay have agreed that there will be NO SUPPER CLUB IN MAY. We may all look forward to Supper Club in June hosted by Hans Zwar and co-hosted by Eric Batchelder, Virginia Schroeder and Bob Hays.
Camp Allen Scholarship - The ECW is offering a partial scholarship to send your child to a Camp Allen Summer session with a limit of two scholarships for this summer. Anyone interested in applying for a scholarship to pay for 1/2 of the fee may pick up an application in the church office. This partial scholarship is being offered to those in need due to the increase in fees for summer camp. Please submit your application to our rector, Daryl Hay. All information will remain confidential.

Supper Club Update - We still need hosts and co-hosts for the month of August!
As our Supper Clubs have become so popular with our growing St. James' membership, the attendance continues to increase! Perhaps each host would appreciate the help of two co-hosts instead of just one. Please call Ann Campbell, 979-542-9465 to volunteer for hosting or co-hosting in August.
Relay for Life - Hey...all you movie buffs at St. James'. Bring yourselves, friends, children and grandchildren to "A Night at the Movies" Relay for Life Walk for the Cure on September 20th. We are currently accepting actors, actresses, set designers, writers (we don't pay either, but at least you are guaranteed fun and action), camera men and women, and directors. A Relay for Life Team Playbill will be posted in the Parish Hall. Please sign up to be on our team! Yikes! We just received a serious alert...King Jimmy Kong has been seen in the area trying to climb our steeple. Keep a lookout....one never knows where he will appear next.
Our Community
Bradley Frerichs Memorial Scholarship Fund will have a drive-thru meal only on Mother’s Day, May 11th at the KC Hall in La Grange. The menu will consist of BBQ chicken, green beans, potatoes, peaches and bread. Bake sale items will also be available. Tickets are $7.00 each and are available from Faith Frerichs, Julie Karstedt or Melinda Schielack. All proceeds will benefit the Bradley Frerichs Memorial Scholarship at NBT and Fayette Savings. The Frerichs family thanks you for your love and support.
Youth Minister Position Opening - St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Brenham, Texas has an immediate opening for a youth minister. The position is part-time - 20 hours including Sunday service, $15.00 per hour, negotiable. Jr. College degree or higher plus 3 years previous youth ministry work preferred.
